This is my message.

I am Askeladd, and I would have the honour of being a struggling scribbler seeking some solace and success on this sedentary slice of Sodom. My species is Britanno-Gaelic with that smoky Dubliner accent (living in Ireland currently). Industrial engineer and aspiring diplomat by day, selfproclaimed artist and starving writer by night.

As mentioned in the headline, I'm here in the hopes of catching a transient glimpse of those blessed by the Great Mother herself. Her mark is unmistakable; copper red hair and piercing eyes. Well that, and some good verbal sport, of course.

And so, we arrive at the beginning of this journey. Every adventure requires a first step. Trite, but true, even here.

A day-long journey to a castle or ruin nestled deep in the wilderness. The sun shines. Birds sing. It is the off-season and there is no hide nor hair of any tourist. Just one man and his backpack.

Alternatively, a relaxed evening, a dark room lit by candles and a good book, the crackle of the fire serving as my only companion. Then again, any activity under such circumstances would be fun for me.
